At NCD, we work with communities to promote approaches aimed at sustainable land management with a major emphasis on reversing land degradation, improved storage of water and mitigating the impacts of climate change and climate variability.

In this regard we support communities to better manage their environment as they mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

We work with partners to promote sanitation and hygiene in schools and communities where we work.

We promote safe motherhood initiatives and strengthen the capacity of communities to demand for services and accountability on Maternal and Child Health from duty bearers. We promote access to family planning services, maternal health services with a strong emphasis on the need to eliminate the 3 delays.

In a move to prevent teenage pregnancies and child marriages, we empower adolescents with sexual and reproductive health information to enable them make informed decisions.

We engage in evidence based legal and policy advocacy, conducting legal and policy research and analysis, advocating for progressing human rights, laws, policies, frameworks and standards at local, regional and global level.

NCD also through its HIV and Malaria prevention and response program works with communities and other actors in implementing actions aimed at preventing and reducing the impact of the HIV and Malaria. We promote behavior change strategies, distribute insecticide treated mosquito nets, promote access to HCT services, refer community members for care and support providers.

Under this program area, we work towards ensuring that people in need increase their incomes for self-sustenance.

Our approach is to support communities with technical skills, startup kits and guide them into forming Self Help Groups(SHGs). SHGs are small voluntary associations of people from the same socio-economic background with a purpose of solving their common problems through mutual help.

These groups are an instrument for a variety of goals including empowering women, developing leadership abilities among poor people and increasing access to loans.
