This abridged version has been extracted from the Ministry of Education and
Sports 2020 Revised guidelines on Prevention and Management of Teenage
Pregnancy in School settings in Uganda. This is produced with financial
support from AmplifyChange. We are very grateful to all NCD staff that have
participated in the process of developing this abridged version.

While AmplifyChange has supported the development of the abridged version
of the guidelines, the views expressed in this publication don’t reflect those of

Education empowers boys and girls to participate in decision-making to build a better future for themselves and their communities. The right to education is a fundamental human right. Every individual irrespective of race, gender, nationality, ethnic or social origin, religion or political preference, age and disability, is entitled to equitable and successful completion of education.

tailoring

Since 2020, Network for Community Development NCD with support from Paul Hodges Trust has supported 80 vulnerable girls and women acquire tailoring skills and sewing machines. We have documented stories on 13 young women from Mukono and Buikwe who have benefited from the skilling program. It is clear that every time one young girl / women is supported, she has more siblings or children that indirectly benefit of her income, a common practice in Uganda.

Educational Journey of Vulnerable Girls in Uganda

Since 2019, Network for Community Development (NCD) with support from Mundo Cooperante has supported 113 vulnerable girls access primary and or secondary education in public schools in Mukono district. We have documented stories of girls and teachers on the impact of sponsoring education programs. Every time we support girl’s education, we are making a bold move in ending child marriages.

NCD Whistle blowing policy

NCD’s policy on whistleblowing is designed to build confidence of relevant persons to report genuine concerns about fraud, bribery or other types of misconduct. For many cases of misconduct, someone reporting it is the only way it can be discovered and dealt with.

This policy is intended to encourage Board members, staff (paid and volunteer) and others to report suspected or actual occurrence(s) of illegal, unethical or inappropriate events (behaviors or practices) without retribution

NCD Safe Guarding Policy 2024

The purpose of this policy is to protect people, particularly children, at risk adults and beneficiaries of assistance, from any harm that may be caused due to their coming into contact with NCD staff or operations. This policy lays out the commitments made by NCD and informs staff and associated personnel of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding.

This policy also covers; Sexual harassment in the workplace. It is however not concerned with Safeguarding concerns in the wider community not perpetrated by NCD or associated personnel.

NCD commits to addressing safeguarding throughout its work, through the three pillars of prevention, reporting and response.
